SKIN CARE : What Causes Clogged Pores
SKIN CARE : What Causes Clogged Pores
Blocked pores can happen to anyone - even those of us who
follow a strict skin care routine. As the root of acne, pores were clogged for
anything from blackheads to uneven skin. What causes clogged pores? We share the
five guilty parties below.
DEAD SKIN
The upper layer of the skin - the epidermis - constantly
creates new skin cells and sheds the old skin. If these dead skin cells have
the potential to build - because of dry skin, lack of peeling or other factors -
they can clog the pores.
EXCESS OIL
The next layer of our skin - dermis - glands homes, which
are responsible for creating natural oils from our skin. These oils, called
sebum, help keep our skin soft and moist. Sometimes, these sebaceous glands in
the glans, create a lot of oil and cause dead skin cells to stick and pores.
HORMONAL CHANGES
When our bodies pass through hormonal ups and downs, the
amount of oil that our skin produces can change. This means that periods,
pregnancy and puberty can lead to an unfortunate surge in oil causing clogged
pores and acne.
OVER-EXFOLIATING
While peeling away dead skin cells seems to be the solution
to any problem-impaled pores, exaggeration can only make the problem worse.
When over-peeling you end up drying the skin, add another layer of blockage.
Dryness then causes your skin to overcombenzate with more oil production,
further clogged pores.
HAIR AND SKIN PRODUCTS
Your favorite beauty products can be because of your banned
skin. Many products can contain formulas with plug-ins clogged pores. Look for
products with "non-comedogen" on the label, which means that the
formula should not lead to clogged pores.
