Moisturizer is the base to maintain a youthful looking skin since they hold the water into the skin and keeps it hydrated. Moisturizer forms a barrier between the skin and the environment and prevents the skin from harmful factors. They hydrate and plump up the skin, so that skin appears smooth, bright and hydrated. The moisturizer according to your skin type will enhance the look and feel of the skin and can help to eliminate fine lines temporarily. They also protect the skin from pollution, weather and other skin damaging factors. Look for the moisturizers which contain sodium hyaluronate which helps to lock the moisture into the skin and prevents it from leaving the skin. The major difference between different moisturizing products is the ratio of water to oil.

There are two types of moisturizer available in the market:

Oil in Water Emulsion: They contain humectants (like glycerin) which attract water from the environment and locked it into the skin. But the disadvantage of this type of moisturizer is that humectants may sometimes absorb too much water from the skin itself thereby increasing its dryness.
Water in Oil Emulsion: They work by forming a water-trapping film on the skin surface, which act as barrier retarding water loss.
